Not a lot of people realise that Morocco and other North-African countries are part of Africa.

Africa is sometimes seen as one big country, or only represented by sub-saharan countries. As a result Morocco and Algeria are not often seen as a part of the rest of the continent. Rajae, an extraordinary performer and modern cosmopolitan woman, incorporates her Morrocan cultural heritage, as well as her Algerian and Dutch roots in her art.

She explores her identity as a woman, as a Moroccan, an African, a Westerner and as a muslim, without giving up either aspect over the other. She brings together so many aspects of what it means to be of African descent in such a powerful way, that it defies any single story or any stereotype.  The way in which she merges all these parts of her identity, reflects the way in which Africa incorporates many diverse cultures and aspects.

Rajae represents the diversity of Africa. During ‘Africadelic’ she symbolises the return of Morocco to the African Union, after 32 years, with a cultural celebration of diversity.
